University Christian Church is honored to welcome Mark Charles to our pulpit on October 13.
Mark Charles is a national-speaker and writer regarding modern-day history. He leads his audiences to find the roots of social justice issues embedded deep in history.
Mark is the author of the popular blog Reflections from the Hogan, and his writings have been frequently published by Native News Online and Indianz. Mark is a founding partner of the national conference for Native students Would Jesus Eat Frybread?, consults with the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship, and has served as a former pastor of the Christian Indian Center in Denver, CO. Mark’s first book, Unsettling Truths: The Ongoing, Dehumanizing Legacy of the Doctrine of Discovery, will be released November 5th.
University Christian Church is excited to welcome Mark to preach in worship at 10:45 AM as part of our study of the Book of Joshua and for a special public conversation open to the entire community on the Doctrine of Discovery and justice for indigenous peoples at 1:00 PM.
