Advent Book Study: Light of the World

Advent is a time of preparation, and it's perfect to ask questions.

What does the Bible really say about Jesus' birth? How can we understand these narratives and what God is doing through them? How do these stories from the gospels tie into Old Testament language and images?

Dr. Amy Jill-Levine is a great author, a Jewish Studies professor, and gifted scholar. Her book, Light of the World, is a perfect introduction to basic questions about the birth of Jesus and the themes that scripture builds off of to tell an incredible story of hope. You will find it insightful and challenging and help you see Advent from a new perspective.

The church has ordered a limited number of copies of the book, or you can order one for yourself.

Discussion times are offered on Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM (in Room 5 at the church) and Wednesday evenings at 8 PM. Rev. Nathan's group will meet at Franklin's in Hyattsville on December 11 and Streetcar 82 on December 18.
